Why TBN is Lesser Concern in Used Oil Analysis with New Generation Oils
Since the introduction of API CJ-4, and now API CK-4 products, we have been developing products with less than 1% sulfated ash. As a result, expect to see a reduction in normal TBN numbers while the performance of the oil and drain intervals are equal or better than previous products.
